What we do

We are a diverse group of board-certified general surgeons and physician assistants, many with fellowships in minimally invasive surgery or surgical critical care, providing comprehensive inpatient care for common urgent and emergent surgical conditions at Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center (LHAAMC) and Doctors Community Medical Center (LHDCMC) with 24/7 coverage

Types of problems we treat can include:

  • Appendicitis
  • Gallbladder disease
  • Perforated ulcers
  • Small bowel or colon problems
  • Soft tissue infections
  • And many others...

Additionally, we offer specialized outpatient wound care at our wound care center.

What to expect

Our Acute Care Surgery group works as a team to care for patients at both facilities. Some patients that we see do not need surgery, but still benefit from surgical expertise involved in their care.  It is likely that over the course of your stay you will meet many members of our attending surgical staff, as we all treat any patient as our own, even if our partner performed the operation. Additionally, we work with General Surgery residents at both locations. These are physicians in training and work with our team to care for patients. During your stay, you are likely to be seen by our team at various points in the day to advance your care as appropriate. We work closely with many other teams in the hospital including internal medicine, infectious disease, gastroenterology, radiology, etc. to care for complex patients.

We are dedicated to optimizing patient outcomes and committed to education, teaching and mentoring the next generation of general surgery residents from Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center (LHAAMC) and Howard University, as well as medical students from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and George Washington University School of Medicine.

Follow up care

To continue to optimize patient outcomes after surgery, we offer in person and virtual visits for your post operative follow up appointments. At follow up appointments we continue to provide comprehensive care to assess for ongoing post operative complications, manage wounds and make appropriate referrals to other surgical subspecialties as indicated. We have in person office time availability at LHAAMC on Monday afternoons and at LHDCMC on Wednesday all day. Telehealth options are available for our patients who have had laparoscopic procedures on Tuesdays all day. Our providers travel to both locations to accommodate our growing practice.
