Adam S. Weltz, M.D., F.A.C.S. is a board-certified general surgeon with fellowship training in advanced gastrointestinal, minimally invasive, and robotic surgery. He completed his general surgery residency with distinction at the University of Maryland Medical Center and University of Maryland School of Medicine, followed by a Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship at Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center.
During residency, Dr. Weltz received numerous honors, including Intern of the Year, the American College of Surgeons Leadership and Advocacy Scholarship, the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons Outstanding Resident Achievement Award, and multiple awards recognizing excellence in teaching and clinical research.
Dr. Weltz has been a member of the Acute Care Surgery team at Luminis Health since 2018. In addition to his clinical practice, he serves as Associate Program Director for the Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center General Surgery Residency Program and is a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at the George Washington University School of Medicine.
He has authored more than 40 peer-reviewed publications, including original manuscripts and book chapters, and has contributed to leading surgical textbooks such as the Atlas of Robotic Surgery, the SAGES Manual of Hernia Surgery, Schwartz’s Principles of Surgery, and Cameron’s Current Surgical Therapy. His scholarly work also includes a manuscript published in JAMA Surgery focused on pragmatic surgical trials, reflecting his interest in real-world evidence generation and clinically meaningful research design.
Outside of his clinical and educational roles, Dr. Weltz devotes his non-clinical time to advancing the field of robotic surgery through his work with Intuitive Surgical, where he focuses on regulatory and clinical strategy, innovation, and the safe expansion of novel surgical technologies.
