Adam S. Weltz, MD, is a board-certified general surgeon fellowship trained in advanced gastrointestinal and minimally invasive surgery under the tutelage of Dr. Adrian Park, chairman of the Department of Surgery at Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center (LHAAMC) in Annapolis, Maryland. Dr. Weltz is a graduate of University of Maryland Medical Center and University of Maryland School of Medicine/R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center where he completed his general surgery residency training with distinction. During residency he won numerous awards, including the Intern of the Year, the American College of Surgeons Leadership and Advocacy Scholarship Award, the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons Outstanding Resident Achievement Award and best presentation awards at numerous national and international meetings. He also was involved in several educational and leadership roles, including membership in the Surgical Residency Curriculum Committee, House Staff Association Committee for Improvement, a founding member of the Surgical Leadership Committee, and was often recognized for excellence in medical student and resident education. Following fellowship, Dr. Weltz was excited to remain at LHAAMC as core faculty on the acute care and emergency general surgery service because he wanted to take care of the sickest patients in the hospital. He also works part time as a medical officer in the United States Food and Drug Administration reviewing new technology in surgery. He is a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Surgeons, Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), Society of Laparoendoscopic and Robotic Surgeons Surgeons (SLS), American Hernia Society, Maryland Surgical Society and one of the original members of Comprehensive Disaster Response Services, a not-profit organization that provides emergency medical and surgical relief efforts across the globe.
