Rubie Sue Jackson, MD, MPH is a fellowship-trained breast surgeon who joined Anne Arundel Medical Center in 2015 and serves as the Director of Clinical Research for the Rebecca Fortney Breast Center. She also has an academic appointment at The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Dr. Jackson received a Doctor of Medicine at the State University of New York Upstate Medical University, where she was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society and received the Academic Achievement Award for scholastic performance. She attended The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health as a Sommer Scholar, receiving her Master of Public Health. Dr. Jackson completed a general surgery residency at Georgetown University Hospital and a fellowship in breast surgical oncology at Anne Arundel Medical Center. She is board certified in general surgery. She serves on the research committee of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and is a member of the Society of Surgical Oncology. Dr. Jackson’s research interests include ultrasound of the axilla (underarm) in breast cancer, nipple-sparing mastectomy, and geographic and racial disparities in surgical care. Her publications have appeared in the Journal of the American Medical Association, the Annals of Surgical Oncology, and the Journal of the American College of Surgeons. She has presented her research at numerous national meetings and authored a textbook chapter on nipple-sparing mastectomy. She also has a clinical interest in oncoplastic surgery and has completed Hidden Scar certification.
