Dr. Coale is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in the treatment of foot and ankle conditions. His expertise includes the full spectrum of care, from total ankle replacement and fracture management to minimally invasive corrective techniques.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in ecology and evolutionary biology from Princeton University, where he was a four-year varsity letter winner and All-Ivy League offensive lineman. He returned to Maryland for medical school at the University of Maryland, where he received the Thomas E. Gillespie Award for Excellence in Orthopaedics. He then completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Harborview Medical Center at the University of Washington in Seattle, serving as chief resident and providing Level I trauma care across five states.
Dr. Coale went on to complete a fellowship in foot and ankle reconstruction at the Institute for Foot and Ankle Reconstruction at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore. He has authored more than 50 orthopedic publications, including journal articles, book chapters and international conference presentations.
Above all, Dr. Coale takes pride in helping patients return to their lives after trauma or degenerative disease.
