And our lymphedema therapists meet the highest standards to qualify for certification. We'll create a care path just for you. No two patients with breast cancer are alike. We'll work with the rest of your care team to create a plan that best suits you.

Physical Therapy for Breast Cancer and Lymphedema Management
Our breast cancer rehabilitation specialists make your treatment and recovery easier. And our lymphedema therapists assess and manage post-surgery swelling.Physical Therapy for Breast CancerWhy do physical therapy for breast cancer? It's one of the most powerful tools we have for helping you get your precancer status back.Physical therapy helps reduce side effects from surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. Plus, it lessens the emotional fall-out after your breast cancer diagnosis. Physical therapy even improves your life after you've finished treatment. Lymphedema ManagementWhat is lymphedema, and what causes it?Some of the fluid in your blood leaks into the surrounding tissues. This liquid (called lymph) travels through a network of "pipes" that carry it back to your bloodstream. Sometimes fluid gets trapped, causing swelling (lymphedema) in an arm, leg, or another body part. And if left alone, lymphedema can worsen. The good news? Our certified lymphedema therapists can spot early clues when this process is starting and step in to help. We're trained to treat and manage lymphedema so you get back to the life you want.We use several techniques to improve lymph drainage. One method is a type of massage that coaxes fluid out of the part of the body where it's collected. Sometimes we use a state-of-the-art device to do the same job. It works something like a blood pressure cuff that automatically inflates, then deflates.Lymphedema therapists also use bandaging and specially designed pieces of clothing to redirect pooled fluid using gentle pressure. Your therapist teaches you exercises and other strategies for promoting lymph outflow, too. These tools allow you to learn how to manage lymphedema on your own.

How do we determine where to focus our community health efforts? The short answer: We listen. Every three years, Luminis Health leaders work together with other local health care providers and community partners. We use health statistics, surveys and interviews with a diverse range community members and care providers in the communities we serve. Then, we publish a Community Health Needs Assessment. It's a detailed report that highlights the barriers and gaps people face in seeking health care. This report helps us stay accountable to the people we serve (including you!). It unites our staff and our partners in common goals. These goals include reducing disease rates, reaching more people who need support and improving care for all., Once we learn what the needs are, we work on an implementation plan. This lays out our goals for improving our health care services to better meet the changing needs of our communities. Of course, every good goal needs a timeline, and a way to measure progress, so we include that information, too., Community Benefit by the Numbers We believe that prevention and early intervention can save lives and improve quality of life. That is why we provide low-cost and free screenings, educational programs, and diagnostic services to all members of our community — especially the underserved or those at high risk for illness. We aim to give more people access to health care, improve health literacy, and help navigate the health care system. All of our community benefit activities target health improvement and wellness. FY25, Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center invested $90,462,369 in community benefit activities, which is 13.07% of operating expenses. FY25, Luminis Health Doctors Community Medical Center invested $45,402, 835 in community benefit activities, which is 16.11% of operating expenses. FY25, J. Foot and Ankle Pain
We bring together health professionals with advanced training and a wealth of experience in treating all kinds of foot and ankle pain.Common Foot and Ankle IssuesCarrying you through life can take a toll on your feet and ankles. When you're standing, your feet and ankles support your entire body weight. Activities like running place up to four times that much force on them. And in many parts of your feet and ankles, only a thin layer of skin protects your bones and nerves. All of this makes them vulnerable to issues.Common work- and sports-related injuries, fractures and deformities include:Achilles tendon rupture.Ankle and foot arthritis.Ankle and foot trauma.Bunions, hammertoes and claw toes.Congenital defects and acquired deformities.Fractures.Heel pain.Ligament sprains and tears.Pediatric and newborn deformities and injury.Plantar fasciitis.Post-traumatic reconstruction.Stress fractures.Tendonitis.The inner workings of these joints are complicated. Your feet alone are home to 66 joints and a quarter of all your bones. So diagnosing and treating foot and ankle problems requires very specialized knowledge and skills. That's exactly what our highly trained foot and ankle care team brings to your treatment. Our specialists have extensive experience treating problems from ingrown toenails and bunions to gout and clubfoot. We treat patients of all ages, from babies and teens to older adults.Whenever possible, we use non-invasive treatments such as physical therapy. Still, sometimes an operation is your best option. In that case, our surgeons use the latest methods. These reduce the time you have to spend in the hospital, if any. And after surgery, our physical therapists help improve pain and movement.

But if you need surgery, your doctor may recommend Acessa®, an advanced new method of shrinking fibroids with controlled heat. We are one of the only area hospitals offering the treatment. Our procedures are done on an outpatient basis . You'll usually go home the same day as your surgery. That means a faster return to your normal activities with less risk of infection., A New Solution for Fibroids: What to Expect from Acessa® Acessa® is an advanced new uterine-sparing, minimally-invasive procedure for treating fibroids. These non-cancerous tumors can cause pelvic pain, back pain, excessive bleeding, constipation, and urinary incontinence. Traditional treatment methods include hysterectomy (removal of the uterus) and myomectomy (open abdominal surgery to remove fibroids). The procedure is available at Luminis Health Doctors Community Medical Center. With Acessa®: Our specially trained surgeons apply controlled heat to the fibroid, causing it to shrink over time. It eventually gets absorbed into your body like any other dead tissue. You'll be under general anesthesia (asleep) for the procedure. Your doctor will make three small incisions to access the uterus. Using ultrasound, Acessa® allows your doctor to find and treat more fibroids than other standard imaging methods. The procedure preserves healthy tissue because treatment is focused only on the fibroid, not the uterus. Acessa® is an outpatient procedure. That means you'll go home the same day. You can usually return to work in four to five days. Acessa® isn't for women who plan to become pregnant in the future. Talk to your doctor about whether it's right for you.
