Eileen B. MacDonald, MD, is a board-certified internist who specializes in hospital-based medicine and has a particular interest in quality, evidence-based medical care. She earned her bachelor of science in electrical engineering from Duke University, her MD from Georgetown University School of Medicine, and her residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Dr. MacDonald then served as chief medical resident at Pennsylvania Hospital before returning to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania as a faculty instructor on inpatient service. She also worked in the urgent care center of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center before moving to Annapolis and joining medical staff at AAMC in 2005. As part of the AAMC team, she’s been director of the monthly Department of Medicine Morbidity and Mortality Conference series appointed medical director of the Physician Advisor Program, is a member of the National Association of Physician Advisors, and has expertise in medical necessity, Medicare compliance and the revenue cycle.
