A New Chapter in Angelina’s Weight Loss Journey

Angelina Clark first began exploring bariatric surgery as an adult, when she started thinking more about her health and how she wanted to feel. After researching her options, she chose to undergo gastric bypass surgery in 2006.

Nearly 20 years later, Angelina experienced weight regain and reached a point when she knew she wanted to explore treatment options. She scheduled an appointment with Dr. Courtney Doyle, a bariatric surgeon, to discuss what might be right for her. Dr. Doyle recommended an endoscopic procedure and referred Angelina to Dr. Sanmeet Singh, the Luminis Health Medical Director of Endoscopy.

Dr. Singh spoke with Angelina about TORe, or transoral outlet reduction, a procedure that tightens the stretched connection between the stomach pouch and small intestine after gastric bypass surgery. Doctors use the procedure to help patients who regain weight following gastric bypass.

Angelina decided to move forward with TORe and has since lost 100 pounds from her highest weight.

Today, Angelina and her wife stay busy as legal guardians of a 9-year-old boy. She also stays active at the gym, where she enjoys weight training and riding the exercise bike. Angelina says friends and family have offered plenty of encouragement, and she especially enjoys shopping for new clothes.

“TORe was the right choice for Angelina because it slows stomach emptying and helps her feel full longer,” said Dr. Singh.
