Genetic Counseling & Testing
Women 35+ at delivery, abnormal serum screening, family history of genetic conditions, abnormal ultrasound findings, carrier or teratogen counseling.

Maternal-Fetal Monitoring
An ultrasound-based evaluation checking fetal breathing, movement, tone, and amniotic fluid levels.
A non-invasive test that monitors fetal heart rate in response to movements, typically after 32 weeks.
Yes, during the first trimester or for CVS testing. No if you're only meeting with a genetic counselor.
Possibly, especially in the first trimester for genetic screening. No fasting is required.
Usually within 14 business days. You’ll be called personally when available.
Yes, reports are faxed to your referring OB-GYN.
Pregnancy Tests & Monitoring
You may need additional ultrasounds or blood tests based on prior births, age, or other concerns.
If you have diabetes, hypertension, obesity, or other health conditions, our MFM team offers close monitoring, diet planning, and ongoing support.
We manage pre-eclampsia, gestational diabetes, preterm labor, and more. Early detection is key.
Before Your Appointment
Yes! A light meal is encouraged to increase fetal activity during testing.
One adult (12+ years) may accompany you. Please avoid bringing young children unless another adult is present to supervise them in the waiting room.
You may request a sonographer or provider, but availability is not guaranteed.

Medications, Vaccines & Illness
Yes. Both are safe and encouraged during pregnancy.
Limit caffeine to 200 mg/day. Avoid herbal teas unless approved by your provider.
Diet & Lifestyle
Foods to avoid:
Raw meats, sushi
Unpasteurized foods (unless pasteurized soft cheeses)
Fish high in mercury (shark, swordfish, king mackerel)
Safe foods in moderation:
Cooked shellfish
Canned light tuna (not albacore)
Salmon, shrimp, cod, tilapia
Yes. Walking, prenatal yoga, and other safe activities are encouraged. Avoid high-risk sports and overheating.
Travel & Lifestyle
Best between 14–28 weeks. After 36 weeks, travel only if cleared by your provider and a hospital is nearby.
No hot tubs or spray tans. Regular sunscreen is fine.
Yes, with low-VOC paints and good ventilation. Avoid in coloring your hair in the first trimester.
Not recommended. If necessary, wear gloves.
Yes, with proper shielding during X-rays.
Baby Movements, Intercourse & Spotting
Yes, unless advised otherwise. Light spotting after is common.
Mild spotting early in pregnancy is common. Call if bleeding is heavy or bright red.
After 26 weeks, you should feel at least 8–10 movements/hour. Drink something cold and lie on your side to check. Call if movement is decreased.
Labor & Emergency Concerns
Leakage or gush of fluid that doesn't stop. Use a pad to check.
Call your OB-GYN first. They will guide you.
Normal after 36 weeks — no need to call.
Discuss with your provider — especially if you’re under 37 weeks and having contractions.
Postpartum
Can last up to 6 weeks and fluctuate. Breastfeeding may increase bleeding.
Shower: Immediately
Drive: 1–2 weeks, off pain meds
Exercise: Light walking early, strenuous activity after check-up
Have intercourse: After postpartum visit
"Baby blues" are common. If sadness is overwhelming, call us or access Mental Health Resources or call 988 for support.
