Foot and Ankle Pain
We bring together health professionals with advanced training and a wealth of experience in treating all kinds of foot and ankle pain.Common Foot and Ankle IssuesCarrying you through life can take a toll on your feet and ankles. When you're standing, your feet and ankles support your entire body weight. Activities like running place up to four times that much force on them. And in many parts of your feet and ankles, only a thin layer of skin protects your bones and nerves. All of this makes them vulnerable to issues.Common work- and sports-related injuries, fractures and deformities include:Achilles tendon rupture.Ankle and foot arthritis.Ankle and foot trauma.Bunions, hammertoes and claw toes.Congenital defects and acquired deformities.Fractures.Heel pain.Ligament sprains and tears.Pediatric and newborn deformities and injury.Plantar fasciitis.Post-traumatic reconstruction.Stress fractures.Tendonitis.The inner workings of these joints are complicated. Your feet alone are home to 66 joints and a quarter of all your bones. So diagnosing and treating foot and ankle problems requires very specialized knowledge and skills. That's exactly what our highly trained foot and ankle care team brings to your treatment. Our specialists have extensive experience treating problems from ingrown toenails and bunions to gout and clubfoot. We treat patients of all ages, from babies and teens to older adults.Whenever possible, we use non-invasive treatments such as physical therapy. Still, sometimes an operation is your best option. In that case, our surgeons use the latest methods. These reduce the time you have to spend in the hospital, if any. And after surgery, our physical therapists help improve pain and movement.

Our specialists work side-by-side with health care providers from other departments, including those in oncology (cancer) and urogynecology (pelvic floor issues). Your care team may include radiologists, anesthesiologists, and nurses. We offer a personalized consultation before any surgery, so you know you're getting the right treatment for your particular symptoms. We have a diverse surgical team. If you'd prefer a female or male doctor, or need access to a multilingual provider, you'll find someone here who meets your needs. Our caring team brings vast resources of education and experience to the operating room. We offer a new approach to treating fibroids. We offer a number of non-surgical treatments for fibroids. But if you need surgery, your doctor may recommend Acessa®, an advanced new method of shrinking fibroids with controlled heat. We are one of the only area hospitals offering the treatment. Our procedures are done on an outpatient basis . You'll usually go home the same day as your surgery. That means a faster return to your normal activities with less risk of infection., A New Solution for Fibroids: What to Expect from Acessa® Acessa® is an advanced new uterine-sparing, minimally-invasive procedure for treating fibroids. These non-cancerous tumors can cause pelvic pain, back pain, excessive bleeding, constipation, and urinary incontinence. Traditional treatment methods include hysterectomy (removal of the uterus) and myomectomy (open abdominal surgery to remove fibroids). The procedure is available at Luminis Health Doctors Community Medical Center. With Acessa®: Our specially trained surgeons apply controlled heat to the fibroid, causing it to shrink over time. It eventually gets absorbed into your body like any other dead tissue. You'll be under general anesthesia (asleep) for the procedure. Your doctor will make three small incisions to access the uterus. Using ultrasound, Acessa® allows your doctor to find and treat more fibroids than other standard imaging methods. The procedure preserves healthy tissue because treatment is focused only on the fibroid, not the uterus. Acessa® is an outpatient procedure. That means you'll go home the same day. You can usually return to work in four to five days. Acessa® isn't for women who plan to become pregnant in the future. Talk to your doctor about whether it's right for you.
