Our caring team brings vast resources of education and experience to the operating room. We offer a new approach to treating fibroids. We offer a number of non-surgical treatments for fibroids. But if you need surgery, your doctor may recommend Acessa®, an advanced new method of shrinking fibroids with controlled heat. We are one of the only area hospitals offering the treatment. Our procedures are done on an outpatient basis . You'll usually go home the same day as your surgery. That means a faster return to your normal activities with less risk of infection., A New Solution for Fibroids: What to Expect from Acessa® Acessa® is an advanced new uterine-sparing, minimally-invasive procedure for treating fibroids. These non-cancerous tumors can cause pelvic pain, back pain, excessive bleeding, constipation, and urinary incontinence. Traditional treatment methods include hysterectomy (removal of the uterus) and myomectomy (open abdominal surgery to remove fibroids). The procedure is available at Luminis Health Doctors Community Medical Center. With Acessa®: Our specially trained surgeons apply controlled heat to the fibroid, causing it to shrink over time. It eventually gets absorbed into your body like any other dead tissue. You'll be under general anesthesia (asleep) for the procedure. Your doctor will make three small incisions to access the uterus. Using ultrasound, Acessa® allows your doctor to find and treat more fibroids than other standard imaging methods. The procedure preserves healthy tissue because treatment is focused only on the fibroid, not the uterus. Acessa® is an outpatient procedure. That means you'll go home the same day. You can usually return to work in four to five days. Acessa® isn't for women who plan to become pregnant in the future. Talk to your doctor about whether it's right for you.

For example, the Google Chrome browser has extensions that allow users to adjust the colors or contrast of a web page to make it easier to see.
Luminis Health is committed to providing a digital experience accessible to all visitors, patients, and families. We launched the new LuminisHealth.org website to standards set by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) in its Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level A and AA. These guidelines help organizations make their websites easier to use for people with visual, physical, cognitive, and other disabilities.Continuing to meet these changing guidelines is an ongoing process and we will continue developing to standards that improve the experience for everyone.Current Accessibility FeaturesOur compliance with WCAG guidelines includes many web design and development considerations, including but not limited to:Using adequate color contrast and clean fonts to improve visibility.Ensuring you can use the site as intended with page zoom.Ensuring you can navigate the site using only a keyboard (for example, through features such as focus, carousel controls, and skip to main content).Compatibility with speech recognition software.Including alternative text ("alt text") descriptions for all images so screen readers can describe them.Designing all interactive elements (such as buttons) to meet Google's touch target sizing standards (48px x 48px).Ongoing ImprovementWe test our site performance with multiple browsers and screen readers and use a variety of tools to assess and monitor compliance, including AXE tools and Google's Lighthouse accessibility testing feature. We test screen reader usability via shallow navigational methods by the VoiceOver utility and NVDA through a cross-browser/device access application. Our approach is to first identify and assess the most severe issues for remediation. Next, we evaluate any warnings.
