Yu-Hung Kuo, MD, PhD is the Luminis Health Chief of Neurosurgery. Dr. Kuo is an experienced neurosurgeon who specializes in the treatment of oncologic lesions affecting the nervous system, including tumors of the brain and pituitary gland.
Dr. Kuo received his medical degree from Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York, where he also received his Ph.D. in cellular, molecular, and biophysical sciences. He completed his surgical residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York, and completed his fellowship at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in Australia, under the prestigious William P. Van Wagenen Fellowship awarded by the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.
Before joining Luminis Health, Dr. Kuo served as Vice Chair of Neurosurgery at UCSF and Chief of Neurosurgery at the University of California, San Francisco’s Fresno campus. He also held multiple leadership and academic roles, including Vice Chair of Neurosurgery, Associate Professor of Neurosurgery, Director of Surgical Neuro-Oncology, and Co-Director of Neurosurgery Research.
