Lorraine Tafra, MD, since joining the AAMC Breast Center in 1999, Dr. Tafra has actively participated in breast research and clinical care. She participated in the initial development of the sentinel node technique for breast cancer and founded the Breast Surgery fellowship at AAMC. She is active in collaborative research with Walter Reed Army Medical Center, East Carolina University and Johns Hopkins University Medical Center, where she also holds an academic appointment in surgery.
